nCode DesignLife 11

Vibration Fatigue
nCode 11 introduces the ability to apply multiple correlated or uncorrelated PSD loading to a component. This provides state-of-the-art methods for designing and validating components subjected to vibration excitation. Support for modal dynamic simulation enables more efficient calculation for larger problems. Additionally, the Vibration Fatigue module has been broadened to offer FEA simulation of the newer and more representative qualification tests, such as:

  • Sine-on-random loading
  • Multiple simultaneous PSDs
  • Swept-sine loading
  • Sine dwell loading
  • High temperature effects

Watch this video to learn how you can easily assess durability of vibrating components based on FEA simulation using DesignLife.

Sine on Random

Creating virtual load histories
Strain gauge placement and loads reconstruction enable the calculation of the applied loading history on a structure from measured strain gauge data. A new Strain Gauge Placement glyph aids in the selection of the number of gauges, the location and orientation on the structure for each gauge.

Watch this video to learn how virtual load transducers can be created from measured data and FEA.

Multiaxial EN Analysis
Multiaxial EN analysis is now fully supported. There have been significant improvements to the Jiang plasticity model and the automatic analysis selection methods.

Watch this video to learn about fatigue analysis of multiaxially loaded components in nCode DesignLife.

nCode GlyphWorks 11

Frequecny Analysis
A number of new capabilities for frequency analysis have been introduced, including a new option for generating Campbell Plots. This capability has been added to GlyphWorks to provide a visualization of how real-world nonlinearities of measured vibration amplitudes affect a rotating system. This helps to establish whether the identified critical speeds are actually areas of concern.

Watch this video to learn more about using GlyphWorks to ensure safe operation of complex rotordynamic systems.

Additional enhancements for frequency analysis include the ability to:

  • Detect underlying repeated or cyclic relationships in the time domain
  • Calculate response of system by convolving with impulse response function

  GPS
GPS Processing

  • A Kalman smoothing option has been added to the GPS processing glyph. This is based on a Kalman filter that uses an internal physics model, and combines this with the input noisy data to more accurately predict GPS based measurements.

Speed improvements

  • Performance improvements in nCode 11 reduce analysis time of large amounts of data with complex flows by up to 30%. Rapidly process large amounts of data through speed improvements that affect handling of large multicolumn data and metadata.
