AcoustiCam


Principle
Localizing sound sources with the measuring system AFD 7000 – AcoustiCam® is done by means of the beamforming technique. The functionality of this technique can be explained by looking at the working principle of an ellipticle concave mirror (see Principle of AcoustiCam®).
Software
The measuring system AFD 7000 is supported by the analysis software AFD 7001.
• Localization, separation and characterization of
o stationary sound sources (fixed sound sources with quasi-stationary source signal)
o nonstationary sound sources (moving sound sources / sound sources with transient source signal)
• Application of classic and novel beamforming algorithms in the
o time domain (e. g. pass-by for moving objects of constant speed)
o frequency domain (e. g. orthogonal beamforming for separate localization of independent sound sources, elimination of channel noise to increase signal-to-noise ratio)
• Characterization of sound sources
o mapping of sound situation as colored, two-dimensional, absolute distribution of sound pressure level
o visualization of sound situation by laying a photograph of the test object underneath the localization result (integrated camera, generation of single images and image sequences / videos)
o generation and auralization of source signal (listening)
o determination of spectra as well as spatial profiles of the sound pressure level
o evaluation of trigger signals
o support of arbitrary micorphone configurations
• Modes of analysis
o real-time localization of sources (live mode)
o record of time data without limitation in time (streaming)
o arbitrary repetition of analysis by post-processing with variable computational parameters without re-measurement (e.g. choice of algorithms, subsequent deactivation and weighting of single channels)
o import of external time data of already taken measurements with microphone arrays (ASCII-Format)
o export of analysis results as image file, animation file or in ASCII format
